HIGHLIGHTS
- An IFZA Business License starts at AED 12,900 for a one-year, zero-visa package, VAT included. It covers three business activities and three individual shareholders, while each visa allocation adds AED 2,000.
- The package isn't the all-in: one visa adds the Establishment Card (AED 2,000) and a 2-year residence visa (AED 3,750), taking a one-person setup to ~AED 22,250 before medical, Emirates ID, and insurance.
- The IFZA license lets the company exist; the bank account lets it operate — and no free zone, IFZA included, opens that account for you. We price the bankable setup, not the sticker.
How much does an IFZA license cost in 2026?
IFZA offers one of the most straightforward pricing structures among Dubai free zones. A one-year, zero-visa Business License starts at AED 12,900, VAT included. Each additional visa allocation increases the package price by AED 2,000, resulting in a one-visa package at AED 14,900, two visas at AED 16,900, and three visas at AED 18,900. These figures represent the published package prices rather than the complete first-year setup cost.
| Setup | Published package (AED) | Typical all-in (AED) | Visas | Office |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard license | 12,900 | 12,900 | 0 | Flexi desk included |
| License + 1 visa | 14,900 | ~22,250* | 1 | Flexi desk included |
| License + 2 visas | 16,900 | ~29,600* | 2 | Flexi desk included |
At first glance, the pricing appears straightforward. The important distinction is that the published package and the real first-year setup cost are not the same figure — a point we'll break down in the next section.
In our experience, founders rarely underestimate the license itself. They underestimate everything that comes after it. That's why we encourage clients to compare jurisdictions using the complete first-year budget rather than the headline package price alone.

Get your IFZA cost breakdownWhat does the IFZA package include?
The standard IFZA package is designed for founders who want to establish a Dubai free-zone company without leasing a permanent office from day one. A one-year, zero-visa package already includes the core incorporation documents, three business activities and three individual shareholders. It also provides the registered business address and flexi-desk facility required for company registration.
Every standard package includes:
- Trade License
- Up to three business activities
- Three individual shareholders
- Memorandum and Articles of Association (MOA/AOA)
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Share Certificate
- Name reservation and initial approval
- Registered business address
- Flexi-desk facility
The package establishes the company, but several services remain outside its scope, including residence visa processing, the Establishment Card, medical fitness examination, Emirates ID, mandatory medical insurance, corporate banking, and future company amendments.
One pattern we see repeatedly is that founders who separate incorporation costs from immigration and operating costs make much more informed jurisdiction decisions than those comparing license prices alone.

What business activities and license types does IFZA offer?
IFZA supports more than 2,000 approved business activities organised under Professional, Commercial and Industrial license categories. Most consulting, technology, e-commerce, trading, media and professional-service businesses can be incorporated under one of these standard license types.
The license category itself has only a limited impact on incorporation costs. Activity selection becomes far more important during banking and compliance, where banks assess whether the licensed activities genuinely match the company's expected business model.
License categories and activity availability verified against the official IFZA Activity List and IFZA licensing documentation, reviewed 19/06/2026. Certain regulated activities remain subject to additional approvals, licensing conditions and activity compatibility requirements. For a full list of available activities, refer to the official IFZA activity schedule before finalising your application.
One of the first things we review with new clients is their activity list. Choosing the right activities at incorporation usually saves more time — and avoids more banking friction — than amending the license after registration.
If you're unsure which license type applies to your business, see our guide to UAE trade licenses before selecting an IFZA activity structure.
What are the common IFZA add-ons?
The standard IFZA package covers the core incorporation costs, but certain ownership structures, business activities and post-incorporation changes generate additional government or free-zone fees. Understanding these charges upfront makes it easier to budget accurately and avoid unexpected costs later.
| Add-on | Cost (AED) |
|---|---|
| Additional business activity | 1,000 per activity |
| Additional individual shareholder | 350 per shareholder |
| Corporate shareholder | 750 per corporate shareholder |
| General Trading activity surcharge | 10,000* |
| Establishment Card (new issue) | 2,000 |
| Establishment Card renewal | 2,200 |
| Establishment Card amendment | 500 |
| License amendment | According to the requested change |
Most companies won't incur every fee listed above. The final cost depends on the licensed activities, ownership structure, and whether changes are required after incorporation.
Based on our experience with previous IFZA setups, founders who budget for optional government fees from the outset are much less likely to face unexpected costs during incorporation or renewal. Looking beyond the advertised package price usually leads to more realistic budgeting and better long-term planning.
Why is the "license + visa" price not the full cost?
One of the biggest misconceptions about IFZA pricing is that adding a visa allocation to the package creates a complete first-year setup. In reality, the published package price covers incorporation and the selected visa allocation, while the government immigration procedures required to issue the residence visa are charged separately.
| Cost progression | Typical amount (AED) |
|---|---|
| IFZA zero-visa package | 12,900 |
| Add one visa allocation | +2,000 |
| Published package total | 14,900 |
| Establishment Card | +2,000 |
| Residence visa processing | +3,750 |
| Status Change (inside UAE) | +1,600 |
| Typical setup total | ≈22,250* |
This layered pricing model isn't unique to IFZA. Similar immigration costs apply across most UAE free zones — the difference is simply whether they are bundled into the advertised package or shown as separate line items.
How much does an IFZA residence visa cost?
Once the company has been incorporated, shareholders and eligible employees can apply for UAE residence visas through IFZA. The immigration process consists of several government procedures completed in sequence, each carrying its own fee.
| Immigration step | Typical fee (AED) |
|---|---|
| Establishment Card (once per company) | 2,000 |
| Residence visa processing (per applicant) | 3,750 |
| Status Change (inside the UAE only) | 1,600 |
| Medical fitness examination | Government fee |
| Emirates ID | ICP fee |
| Mandatory medical insurance | Depends on the provider |
Applicants arriving from outside the UAE don't pay the Status Change fee, while applicants already in the country normally complete this additional immigration step before visa issuance. Most of these immigration costs arise only when obtaining or renewing a residence visa and should therefore be budgeted separately from the annual license renewal.
For a complete explanation of UAE residence visas, visa categories and immigration procedures, see our UAE visa guide.
What does it cost to renew an IFZA license — and over three years?
Unlike most UAE free zones, IFZA offers multi-year license packages alongside the standard one-year option. For founders planning to operate their business in the UAE for several years, these promotional packages can reduce both renewal administration and the overall licensing cost compared with purchasing consecutive one-year licenses.
| License term | Published package price (AED) |
|---|---|
| 1 year | 12,900 |
| 2 years | 21,900 |
| 3 years | 31,000 |
| 5 years | 45,200 |
A multi-year package reduces how often the license itself needs to be renewed, but it shouldn't be confused with the total cost of owning the company over the same period. Residence visas, Emirates IDs, medical insurance, Establishment Card renewals, and other compliance requirements continue to follow their own renewal schedules regardless of the license term.
This distinction is one of the first things we discuss when comparing jurisdictions with clients. Rather than looking only at the published license package, we calculate the expected cost of ownership over the period the business is likely to operate — typically at least three years. In many cases, that longer-term view changes which jurisdiction offers the best overall value.
Do you need a physical office at IFZA?
Not necessarily. A standard IFZA package includes a registered business address and flexi-desk facility, allowing most service-based businesses to incorporate without leasing a dedicated office from day one. For many startups and solo founders, this keeps the initial setup cost lower while providing a compliant registered presence in Dubai.
A dedicated office may become necessary later if your business expands, requires additional visa capacity, or operates in an activity that must be supported by physical premises.
Office requirements verified against the official IFZA Dubai Price List (August 2025) and standard licensing conditions, reviewed 19/06/2026. Standard packages include a registered business address and flexi-desk facility. Certain regulated business activities, operational requirements or higher visa allocations may require dedicated office premises. Applicable office solutions and licensing conditions should be confirmed before incorporation. One of the most common questions we hear from new founders is whether they need to rent an office before opening their company. For most consulting, technology, e-commerce and professional-service businesses, the answer is no. Starting with the standard flexi-desk package often provides the flexibility to launch first and scale the office solution only when the business genuinely needs it.
Can an IFZA company actually open a UAE bank account?
Yes — but the decision is always made by the bank, not by IFZA. This is one of the most important distinctions founders should understand before choosing any UAE free zone.
IFZA has built a strong reputation with many UAE banks and maintains relationships that can help facilitate introductions. Even so, neither IFZA nor any other free zone can guarantee that a corporate account will be approved. Every application is assessed independently based on the company's activities, ownership structure, source of funds, expected transaction profile and supporting documentation.
Corporate bank account approval is subject to each UAE bank's internal compliance and onboarding policies. Neither IFZA nor Emirabiz can guarantee account approval. Banking requirements, onboarding criteria and internal risk policies vary by institution and may change over time. For a deeper understanding of UAE banking requirements, see our Corporate bank account guide.
Before choosing IFZA, it's worth understanding a few practical banking realities:
- Corporate banking is approved by the bank — not by the free zone.
- Source of funds often has a greater impact on approval than the jurisdiction itself.
- Licensed activities should accurately reflect the actual business model.
- Banking assistance means introductions and application support — not a guaranteed account.
Most companies should allow one to three months for corporate banking, although every application follows its own compliance timeline.
We explain this on almost every first consultation: company incorporation is a government process, while opening a bank account is a bank compliance decision. Treating them as two separate projects leads to better planning and significantly reduces avoidable delays.
Rather than simply registering the company, we help clients prepare for banking from the outset by reviewing business activities, ownership structure, expected transaction profile, and supporting documentation before recommending suitable banking options. That approach doesn't guarantee approval — but it does improve banking readiness and helps avoid many of the issues that commonly delay or complicate account opening.
One practical point that's often overlooked is that a zero-visa company isn't always the right structure for founders planning to operate through a UAE corporate bank account. Looking beyond the lowest license price often leads to a stronger long-term banking position.
Find out whether your business profile is a good banking fit before choosing IFZA — not simply the cheapest licensing option.
Review my banking fitWhen is IFZA the wrong choice?
IFZA is one of Dubai's most flexible and competitively priced free zones, but it isn't the right solution for every business. Choosing a jurisdiction based only on the published license price can lead to unnecessary costs or operational limitations once the company begins trading.
You may want to consider another UAE free zone if:
- Your business requires sector-specific infrastructure or an established industry ecosystem.
- You need substantial dedicated office space from the outset.
- Your activity is better supported by a jurisdiction specialising in your industry.
- Your banking requirements or commercial model are likely to be a stronger fit elsewhere.
None of these situations automatically rule out IFZA. They simply mean that another jurisdiction may offer a better combination of licensing, operational flexibility, and banking readiness for the way your business is expected to operate. In some cases, IFZA is the strongest option; in others, jurisdictions such as DMCC, Meydan, SHAMS, or DWTC may offer a better overall fit.
From our analysis of previous client cases, the best setup decisions rarely come from comparing package prices alone. They come from identifying which jurisdictions are not the right fit before narrowing the shortlist to the options that genuinely support the business.
Bottom line
An IFZA Business License starts at AED 12,900, making it one of Dubai's most competitive free-zone entry points. But the published package is only the starting point. Residence visas, immigration costs, banking and future renewals all influence the real cost of owning the company.
For many consulting, technology, trading and professional-service businesses, IFZA offers a good balance between cost, flexibility and scalability. The right comparison, however, isn't the lowest advertised license price — it's which jurisdiction delivers the strongest long-term fit for your business over the years ahead.

Many founders come to IFZA because of the headline package price.
We start somewhere else.
Before recommending any jurisdiction, we review the planned business activities, visa requirements, ownership structure, expected banking profile and growth plans. If another jurisdiction is likely to perform better over the next three years, we explain why before the company is registered.
- Transparent cost modelling. We break down every component of the setup, including the license package, visa allocations, immigration costs and expected renewals.
- Activity-first structuring. We verify that the selected business activities support both compliance requirements and future banking rather than simply fitting the cheapest package.
- Bankability review. We evaluate ownership, source of funds, and transaction profile before recommending IFZA or any other UAE free zone.
- Long-term planning. We compare first-year costs with three-year ownership costs, helping founders avoid expensive restructures after incorporation.
Our objective is straightforward: to recommend the jurisdiction that is most likely to work after incorporation — not simply the one with the lowest advertised price.
